WHO WE ARE
We are John and Lynda Edwards, both retired teachers who love animals and want to make a difference in this world. On our property, located in Parker, CO, we provide food, water, shelter, medications, plenty of room to roam, and all the love they need.
Meet our Members
Board Member and Volunteer
Roxanne Marney
I grew up loving animals in a home with parents who shared my passion for fur, feathers, and fins. I’ve been fortunate to have held positions with the SPCA LA , American Humane Association and North American Riding for the Handicapped Association (now PATH). I have seen firsthand the healing power of people rescuing animals, and of animals rescuing people.
For the past 13 years, I have been honored to volunteer alongside John and Lynda, and have come to love hens, roosters and ducks (along with all of the other animals) more than I could imagine and am known as the Foundation’s “Director of Fowl”.
Roxanne received her BA in Philosophy from the University of Colorado.
Vice President and Founder
John Edwards
John – Originally from San Antonio, TX, my family relocated to Arkansas where we ran a small dairy and egg production facility before settling in Colorado. Growing up I learned about farm life and came to respect and nurture the animals in our care.
John holds a BA in education and an MA in Secondary Science Education. In addition to his Docent time at the Denver Zoo John was also a guide for the Denver Museum’s Prehistoric Journey exhibit and provided volunteer services for the Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Preserve, Ocean Journey and the National Western Stock show.
After meeting while taking classes at the Colorado School of Mines, Lynda and John married, have fostered over 31 children and established Edwards Foundation for Rescued Animals.
Together, Lynda and John have enriched the lives of people, animals and children while fulfilling their desire to give back to the community.
President and Founder
Lynda Edwards
Lynda – I grew up around animals. Living in a small house near the Twilight Golf Course, I would ride my little Saddlebred horse up and down the Highline Canal. Spending time with and caring for animals has always been a huge part of my life.
John and I were volunteer Docents at the Denver Zoo and were approached about placing some animals. Zebus, Molly and Chuck, and goats, Togo and Ghana were given complete health checks and neutered by the Zoo, released to us and so it all began.
Lynda has an MA from CSU and has taught school for 25 years. Now retired, she also acts as a moderate needs, special education teacher for special needs groups who volunteer at the Foundation. Lynda has a long history of volunteer work at the National Western Stock Show and is a recognized member of the local horse community along with her daughter Teri Allen, who with her husband, Jim, founded Terolyn Horse Rescue. Lynda’s son Rob is also an avid horse lover.
