ABOUT EDWARDS FOUNDATION FOR RESCUED ANIMALS

We are John and Lynda Edwards, both retired teachers who love animals and want to make a difference in this world.  On our property, located in Parker, CO, we provide food, water, shelter, medications, plenty of room to roam, and all the love they need.

A Sanctuary of Hope and Love

At the heart of Parker, Colorado, lies a sanctuary not just of serene beauty but of profound compassion and dedication. The Edwards Foundation for Rescued Animals, established by John and Lynda Edwards, embodies the epitome of love and care for animals that have been neglected, abandoned, or otherwise in need. This noble endeavor, born from the pure passion of two retired teachers, has grown into a haven for large animals, where the philosophy that every creature deserves love and care is not just preached, but practiced.

Our Beginning

The journey of the Edwards Foundation for Rescued Animals began over 25 years ago. John and Lynda, having dedicated their lives to teaching, decided to extend their nurturing instincts to animals in distress. This decision was not made lightly; it stemmed from a profound belief in making a significant difference in the world. Their dedication led to the creation of a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization (EIN 20-5988307) committed to providing a no-kill sanctuary for rescued animals.

Our Mission

The mission of our foundation is simple yet profound: to provide food, water, shelter, medications, and a loving environment for our rescued inhabitants. We strive to educate communities of all ages and abilities on proper animal care, while fostering an environment of learning, respect and teamwork. We offer supervised interaction with our animals for visitors facing emotional or cognitive challenges.
Our commitment extends beyond just meeting their basic needs; we aim to give these animals a second chance at life, a life filled with comfort and care.

Our Sanctuary

Nestled on five acres in the rustic beauty of Parker, with an additional 70 acres in Elbert County, our sanctuary offers ample space for our animals to roam and thrive. The farm is more than just a shelter; it is a home where animals that require constant care and attention can live in peace and comfort. Recognizing the abundance of small animal shelters, our focus is primarily on large animals, where space and specialized care are critical needs.

Our Community & How You Can Help

The foundation thrives on the spirit of community. Volunteers are the backbone of our daily operations, assisting with chores and ensuring the animals receive the highest level of care. Financial contributions are also vital, helping us cover the costs of maintenance, medical care, and feeding. All donations are directly channeled to the welfare of the animals, as we take no compensation for ourselves. Whether you wish to volunteer, donate, or sponsor a specific animal, your support makes a significant impact.
