      NO KILL Rescue

The Edwards Foundation and it's board of directors have long sought sanctuary for animals which are neglected or deprived of the possibility to thrive. Many of the animals in our care have been in a situations which caused them to be in peril of being deprived of life. The Denver Zoo, for example, was in the process of closing an exhibit in which exotic animals were to be eliminated. Other Zoos across the country were contacted; adequate facilities were not available to house the animals from the Krall, an African exhibit at the zoo. These animals were to be euthanized if a proper facility could not be found. They were welcomed at the foundation. Fortunately, we did have the space in our foundation property for just such animals. There animals include two African burros, two Zebu (sacred Indian cattle) and three goats. These animals were not sick or in need of life saving miracles, just a place to live out their lives.

Another example is Easy, a fox trotter, too old and medically unsound to complete his government job of hauling materials up steep mountain slopes in order to build trails. Easy developed a respiratory ailment from working for years at high altitude and cold weather. He was not expected to live more than a year. He was welcomed by the foundation and has lived here for 10 years, and still going strong.
